The Voices of Africa organization, led by Crystal, delivered a 3D printer to the Pwani Teknowgalz space in December 2021. This was the start of a mission to equip young women in Mombasa with 3D printing expertise so that they can support themselves and generate solutions for the community.

e-NABLE  equipped Voices of Africa, Pwani Teknowgalz team in  Kenya, Medtours Africa, a team in Zimbabwe with 3D design using Tinkercard. The team designed unique makercoins, garden markers, 3D houses to practice 3D design skills. The team was also encouraged to design personal passion projects and share them. Other than Tinkercard, tools like the Blender, GitHub were also introduced for use, especially in the prosthetic arm design, for accuracy and for documenting the designs.

Voices of Africa and Pwani Teknowgalz are printed a Phoenix Arm based on this training in order to assist Brother Kevin’s charity in Nairobi that works with disabled children. In addition, the team is developing a curriculum to teach young women from marginalized communities in Mombasa how to learn 3D design and print abilities, as well as how to build micromanufacturing and prosthetics goods and market their creative creations.
