AFRICA CODE WEEK
Africa Code Week is an Organization that empowers future generations with the coding tools and skills they need to thrive in the 21st century workforce and become key actors of Africa’s economic development.Pwaniteknowgalz organized the first Africa Code week workshop in Mombasa with over 100 girls from different high school and university in Mombasa participating in the workshop .The workshop was powered by #eSkills4Girls.organization which aims at tackling the existing gender digital divide in particular in low income and developing countries.The workshop equipped girls with basic web coding languages such as Html,css .It took place on 30th and 31st September 2017 at SwahiliPot Hub near Swahili Cultural We believe the IT industry will greatly benefit from bringing more women into technology.by giving girls an opportunity to learn how to program.
The participants were introduced to
- How the internet works
- The technologies used on web development(Html, CSS, Javascript and PHP)
- Website editors: Sublime text, Notepad++
- Introduction to html and Css – hands on session with the coaches
