Before joining the CodeHack Women in Tech Accelerator, Khadija  work was deeply rooted in community engagement and creativity. She mentored and facilitated programs for young women and adolescent girls, focusing on sexual and reproductive health rights, leadership, and empowerment. Through graphic design, especially posters and visual storytelling, she supported advocacy efforts and communicated important social issues within her community. Although she did not come from a traditional tech background, she was curious about how technology could strengthen and expand the impact of her work. This curiosity led her to apply for the CodeHack Women in Tech Accelerator, a decision that would become a turning point in her journey. The program introduced her to technology as a tool for solving problems and creating impact rather than just consuming information. It opened her eyes to new possibilities and gave her the confidence to explore the digital space. She began to see how her creativity, storytelling skills, and community work could connect with technology in meaningful ways.

Building Skills for a Digital Future

During the accelerator, she gained practical digital and technical skills, including basic programming, mobile application development, user experience and interface thinking, and structured problem solving using technology. Among all the learning areas, mobile application development had the greatest impact on her. Coming from a creative and community background, it was powerful to move from ideas and concepts to building real digital products. Seeing something she imagined become a working application changed how she viewed her own abilities and potential. Before the program, technology felt distant and intimidating. After completing CodeHack Women in Tech, she became confident experimenting, learning independently, and applying digital tools in her work. She transitioned from being a passive user of technology to an active creator who believes she belongs in tech spaces.

Turning Skills into Opportunity

After 3 months  completing the program, new opportunities began to open up. She became more confident in taking on digital projects and positioning herself in spaces that combine creativity, community work, and technology. She now earns income through freelance and project based work, particularly in graphic design and digital content creation. The difference is not just in the skills she gained but in her confidence and approach. She now handles digital projects with more structure, clarity, and ease. One defining moment came when she successfully completed a digital project that she would have previously doubted herself on. That experience confirmed that the program had transformed not only her skills but also her belief in what she is capable of achieving.

A Shift in Mindset and Leadership

The CodeHack Women in Tech Accelerator significantly changed how she sees herself and her career path. It gave her the confidence to step into tech spaces without feeling like an outsider and helped her set clearer and more ambitious goals that combine technology, creativity, and social impact. She has continued to mentor and support young women and girls by encouraging them to explore digital skills. By sharing her journey, she helps others understand that entering the tech space does not require a traditional background, only the willingness to learn and grow. Today, she sees herself as part of the digital economy, not just as a consumer but as a creator and contributor. For her, this means using technology to create value, earn income, and develop solutions that address real needs in her community.

Reflection and Looking Ahead

The biggest change in her life since joining CodeHack Women in Tech has been her confidence. She no longer questions whether she belongs in tech spaces. Instead, she shows up knowing she has something valuable to contribute. This journey has expanded her career path and future plans. She now intentionally integrates technology into her creative and community work, opening up new income opportunities and allowing her to think more broadly about growth and sustainability. Technology is no longer separate from her work. It is central to how she creates impact.
