Born and raised in Kakamega, Immaculate Maliachi has always been passionate about the environment and sustainable development. With a Bachelor of Science degree in Disaster Risk Management and Sustainable Development, she understood the importance of protecting our planet  but she faced a challenge many young graduates do: how to brand herself and showcase her expertise online.

When she joined Pwani Teknowgalz in March 2025, her goal was clear to gain digital skills that could help her brand  herself online and amplify her voice as an environmental advocate. .Immaculate discovered how technology could amplify her passion for environmental sustainability. Through intensive mentorship and hands-on training in digital marketing and e-commerce, she learned how to brand herself, tell her story effectively, and leverage online platforms to build a professional identity. Her mentors not only guided her technically but also helped her align her environmental goals with digital innovation. This phase was pivotal in shaping her confidence and laying the foundation for what would soon become her entrepreneurial journey.

“Pwani Teknowgalz was the wind I needed under my wings,” she says.

Armed with new digital and entrepreneurial skills, she applied for several bootcamps that aligned with her sustainable development background. Her determination paid off as  she joined a competitive entrepreneurship bootcamp and won 1,000 euros, seed funding that she used to scale her environmental project, ImmaStitch Africa.

ImmaStitch Africa focuses on collecting and recycling textile waste, one of the often-overlooked contributors to environmental degradation. Through her leadership, the initiative has already collected over 2,000 kilograms of textile waste  transforming what would have polluted the environment into new, usable products.

Beyond environmental impact, Immaculate’s project is also empowering her community. She has trained and employed four out-of-school girls and young mothers, offering them a sustainable source of income while promoting green innovation.

“I am now the founder of what I believe will soon be a well-known recycling hub,” I am thinking of setting up a physical hub in mombasa and create at least 2 jobs

Emmaculate’s story is a testament to how access to digital skills and mentorship can ignite transformation  turning knowledge into action and passion into purpose. Through the support of Pwani Teknowgalz, she has not only branded herself as a sustainability entrepreneur but also created a ripple effect of empowerment and environmental impact.
