  The Mombasa girls in STEM project ended on the 13th August 2015 with over 180 girls from high schools.11 High schools presenting 3 projects each totaling to 33 projects in the fields of Science,Technology,Engineering and Maths.The Mombasa Girls in STEM was an Alumnae exchange innovative funds(AEIF) won by Techwomen Kenya and implemented by Pwani Teknowgalz .To summarize the project, a fair was held at Aga Khan High School Mombasa . With the approval of the Mombasa County Education office to conduct school visits and train high school girls in Mombasa, we proceeded to invite schools in Mombasa to participate in the project. Our initial target was get 10 schools to participate in the program, however a total of 11 schools agreed to take part in the project. These schools include both private and public schools and are spread out across the county. School visits begun in March 2016 and our trained Trainer of Trainees (ToTs) were allocated to various schools together with the Pwani Teknowgalz lead trainers. We conducted Robotics and Engineering training sessions for our ToTs on the 12th and 13th of February 2016. The training was graciously led by Joash Amemba and Faith from Open Build Hacker Space. Open Build’s philosophy of HACK.TEST.SHARE guided the Robotics assembly. ToTs were introduced to SparkFun Inventor’s Kit (SIK) and SparkFun RedBot basic kits which are a great way to get started with programming and hardware interaction with the Arduino programming language. The Second ToT training for the Mombasa Girls in STEM project was held Kizingo,Mombasa on Saturday Jan 30 2016.The training was about software and web security trainings. The morning session was facilitated by our very own Joan Nabusoba and Ruth Kaveke from Pwani Teknowgalz.Joan started with the introduction to programing.The TOTs were introduced to the basic concepts of programming session.Joan explained the different syntax used in programming languages and areas of applications.The TOTs were had a practical session of creating a simple a web page. The winning Alumni Engagement Innovation Fund project by TechWomen 2014 <strong>‘Mombasa Girls in STEM Solve IT’ was launched on Saturday 12 December, on Kenya’s Independence Day at the Swahili Cultural Center in Mombasa. The project aims to increase Mombasa girls’ interest in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) based subjects by having women professionals from Mombasa train 150 high school girls on a STEM-based curriculum.
